En savoir plus sur le livre

This volume presents the Proceedings of the 2nd International Workshop on Information Processing in Sensor Networks, held at the Palo Alto Research Center, California, on April 22–23, 2003. The interdisciplinary field of information processing in sensor networks intersects with signal processing, networking, databases, and distributed algorithms. Advances in MEMS microsensors, wireless networking, and embedded processing have made ad hoc sensor networks increasingly viable for commercial and military applications, including environmental monitoring, industrial sensing, infrastructure maintenance, and battlefield awareness. From an engineering perspective, sensor networks pose challenges in communication protocols, tasking and control, sensor fusion, distributed databases, and system architecture. This workshop adopted a systemic approach, addressing cross-layer issues from the physical sensor layer to signal processing and networking, ultimately focusing on applications. Following the success of the first workshop in 2001, this event gathered researchers from academia, industry, and government to discuss recent developments in sensor networks, emphasizing information organization, querying, routing, and self-organization, particularly concerning high-level information processing tasks these networks are designed to execute.
