En savoir plus sur le livre

In 1995, the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), Germany's largest public research funding organization, launched a priority program called Kondisk– Dynamics and Control of Systems with Mixed Continuous and Discrete Dynamics. This initiative typically spans six years and supports around twenty scientists, primarily young researchers pursuing doctoral degrees in engineering and computer science. A yearly competition across various disciplines determines funding for such programs, and the proposers successfully secured a slot that year. The program commenced in 1996 following an open call for proposals, with successful projects periodically presented and re-evaluated, allowing for new submissions. Throughout the focused research program, 25 projects were funded across 19 participating university institutes, often involving collaborations between engineering and computer science groups. The establishment of Kondisk was motivated by the need to address the complexities of modern technical systems, which consist of physical components exhibiting continuous dynamics alongside computerized control systems that respond to discrete events. These systems are implemented in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Distributed Control Systems (DCSs), and real-time computer systems.
