En savoir plus sur le livre

Realistic soil and rock foundations exhibit significant deviations from homogeneity and isotropy, yet the homogeneous isotropic elastic half-space model is commonly used to study static and dynamic interactions between deformable foundations and structures. This preference arises from the mathematical complexities associated with the mechanics of anisotropic and heterogeneous elastic bodies. Recent advancements in computer engineering and numerical methods have enabled the resolution of fundamental static and dynamic problems for heterogeneous and anisotropic half-spaces, including various contact issues and the construction of Green's functions. This work presents findings from investigations into the statics and dynamics of these foundations, conducted over the past five years at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Technion - Israel Institute of Technology. It targets engineers and scientists specializing in soil mechanics, soil-structure interaction, seismology, and geophysics. Notably, the book includes general solutions for heterogeneous transversely isotropic elastic half-spaces subjected to time-harmonic loadings, where the characteristics of the half-space influence functions determined from a system of ordinary differential equations.
