    Wilhelm Maximilian Wundt, médecin, physiologiste, philosophe et professeur, est reconnu comme une figure fondatrice de la psychologie moderne. Il est largement considéré comme le « père de la psychologie expérimentale » pour son travail pionnier dans l'établissement de la discipline. En 1879, il fonda le premier laboratoire formel dédié à la recherche psychologique à l'Université de Leipzig, créant ainsi la psychologie comme un domaine scientifique distinct. Il consolida davantage cette entreprise en créant la première revue académique pour la recherche psychologique en 1883.
