    Approaches to singular analysis
Aspects of boundary problems in analysis and geometry
    • Boundary problems constitute an essential field of common mathematical interest. The intention of this volume is to highlight several analytic and geometric aspects of boundary problems with special emphasis on their interplay. It includes surveys on classical topics presented from a modern perspective as well as reports on current research. The collection splits into two related groups: - analysis and geometry of geometric operators and their index theory - elliptic theory of boundary value problems and the Shapiro-Lopatinsky condition

This publication presents various approaches to analytic problems in singular spaces, stemming from the workshop 'Approaches to Singular Analysis' held at Humboldt University of Berlin from April 8-10, 1999. The workshop aimed to unite young mathematicians focused on partial differential operators in singular configurations, fostering discussions on overlapping and differing methodologies. The relaxed atmosphere encouraged open exchanges, with daily discussion sessions enhancing collaboration. The book features articles from workshop participants, which are expanded versions of their presentations, providing introductions to different pseudodifferential calculi and exploring their interrelations. Additionally, a limited number of papers from renowned mathematicians in the field were invited, though several declined due to prior commitments, resulting in only a few contributions from non-participants. The absence of specific names among invited contributors should not be seen as bias from the editors but rather reflects the constraints of space and the selective nature of invitations.
