These six young British artists take pictures not for the purpose of description and explanation--but to ask questions. Sarah Jones' images are awash in psychological dynamics, while Sophie Rickett's night pictures toy with the secrets of the dark. Hannah Starkey tells narratives from the window of a betting office, and Bridget Smith reveals the machinery of desires that is Las Vegas. Tom Hunter quotes Vermeer, and David Shrigley muses humorously about the absurdities of everyday life. All of the photographs were taken in 1999 and belong to the collection of the BMW Financial Services Group Great Britain.
