Die Lebenssituation der alten, insbesondere der pflegebedürftigen Menschen hat sich in den letzten Jahrzehnten stark verändert: längere Lebenserwartung und die zunehmende Anzahl von Hochbetagten, kleinere Haushalte und Singularisierung, vermehrte Pflegebedürftigkeit und Multimorbidität, sind nur einige Kennzeichen dieses Wandels. Neben besonderen Konsum- und Kulturangeboten zeigen sich die veränderten Bedarfslagen alter Menschen vor allem auch im Ausbau eines breit gefächerten Unterstützungs- und Hilfeangebots - mit neuen Anforderungsprofilen für die professionelle Altenarbeit/-pflege bzw. die Ausbildung von AltenpflegerInnen.
