For the fourth time, the symposium will be a key event in the calendar of the glass fiber and composite industry. With continuous growth since the very first edition of the symposium in 2012, we are pleased to see you returning to Aachen once again. The rapid development of information and communication technologies has significantly impacted the global economy over the last decade, particularly with the swift growth of the Internet. This evolution has introduced new economic challenges, such as global Electronic Commerce, telework, and distance learning. Organizations can now operate as flexible, electronically connected networks. However, the uncontrolled expansion of the Internet has created a pressing need for new regulations, often referred to as Cyberlaw. Additionally, individual proficiency in information technologies is becoming crucial for professional success. This book explores various aspects and economic impacts of digital information technologies, offering a primer on Internet economics that outlines its structure and related issues. „Textile Technology“ presents a well-written and readable introduction into the field of textile engineering. It is based on an elementary level course focusing on the manufacture (processes and machines) of yarn, fabric, knitwear, nonwovens, braids, reinforcing fabrics, and technical textiles. The book also provides the technicians and engineers in the textile industry with an up-to-date review of processes and equipment for textile manufacturing. The book covers all processing steps for the manufacturing of textiles, describing materials, processes and machines, finishing, making-up, and recycling. To provide a better understanding of the individual textile processes, each chapter ends with an example describing the respective processing steps for a specific textile product. In addition, current and future development trends are discussed. In the new global economy, more countries have opened up to international competition and rapid capital flows. However, in the triad the process of globalization is rather asymmetric. With a rising role of multinational companies there are favorable prospects for higher global growth and economic catching-up, respectively. Theoretical analysis suggests key ingredients of sustained growth, but there is also a new concept of a long-term equilibrium income gap in which convergence is rather unlikely. The analysis also picks up European and US labor market issues in the context of economic globalization and raises the question of which EU policies in the field of labor market reform and of innovation policies are adequate.

Der Autor, ohne wissenschaftlichen Hintergrund, thematisiert zwischenmenschliche Einschränkungen und die Oberflächlichkeit der Gesellschaft, während er Fragen aufwirft, die oft unbeantwortet bleiben.

Der Autor reflektiert über die Herausforderungen des Erwachsenwerdens, darunter Ängste, Trauer und die erste Liebe. Trotz fehlender Führung und Unverständnis fand er einen Weg, mit den Schwierigkeiten umzugehen und an sich selbst zu glauben, was ihn prägte und motivierte, nach vorne zu schauen.

Hier, in dieser Düne, war ich Florence das erste Mal begegnet. Sie trug einen leichten, blauen Rock und eine ärmellose weiße Bluse. Mit einem aufgeschlagenen Buch auf ihren angezogenen Knien, um die sie ihre Arme geschlungen hatte, saß sie auf einem kleinen Sandhügel zwischen ausgetrockneten, meterhohen Grashalmen. Sie schaute nur kurz auf, als ich plötzlich vor ihr stand. Ich weiß noch, dass sie lächelte und sich die untergehende Abendsonne in ihren langen schwarzen Haaren spiegelte.

»Guten Tag, mein Name ist Franz«, sagte der Fremde und ohne meine Erwiderung abzuwarten, fuhr er fort mit einem Satz, der mir völlig unverständlich war: »Ich habe meine Eltern immer geliebt«, sagte er. Dann schwang er sich über die Mauer, überwand problemlos das schmale Geländer, denn er war wohl ein ausgezeichneter Turner. Noch hielt er sich mit schwächer werdenden Händen fest. Zwischen den Gitterstäben erspähte er den vorbei fahrenden Autobus der Linie 30, der die Mainbrücke jetzt fahrplanmäßig überquerte und mit Leichtigkeit seinen Fall übertönen würde. Er rief nochmals: »Liebe Eltern, ich habe euch doch immer geliebt« und ließ sich hinab fallen. (aus 'Franz')

Dieses Lehrbuch erschließt die ganze Welt der textilen Fertigungsverfahren: Beschrieben wird die gesamte Prozesskette der textilen Fertigungsverfahren, vom Rohstoff über die Verfahren und Maschinen bis hin zur Veredelung, Konfektion und Entsorgung. Besonders die Weiterentwicklung der klassischen Textilien für anspruchsvolle Anwendungen auf dem technischen Sektor (Technische Textilien) ist umfassend dargestellt. Aufgrund zahlreicher neuer Entwicklungen in der Textiltechnik wurde das Buch umfassend aktualisiert und z. T. neu geschrieben. Neu aufgenommen wurden u. a. die Themen Mess-/Prüfverfahren und die Simulation.
