In recent years, Nigeria has experienced rapid growth in urbanization, population, business, and industry, prompting increased attention to the assessment of water resources across the country. Numerous researchers have contributed to this field, highlighting the critical role of water in achieving societal goals and ensuring the health and well-being of the population. Water is vital for economic activities, including commerce, tourism, and industry. Research indicates that water resources, both surface and groundwater, particularly in the southern regions, are generally sufficient to meet demand but require development. A thorough evaluation of these resources must also consider water quality, as it influences the allocation of water sources in a planned supply system. While public water supplies significantly enhance human health, they can also pose health risks if not managed properly. This paper reports on the water quality of selected surface and groundwater resources in Imo State, Nigeria, and offers recommendations for their safe utilization.
