"Inuktitut wird in der kanadischen Arktis, im Territorium Nunavut und in Arctic Quebec, von ca. 20.000 Menschen gesprochen und steht in einem Varietätenkontinuum mit den benarchbarten Sprachen der Familie 'Eskimo-Aleut', deren Verbreitungsgebiet sich von Ostgrönland bis zur Nordostspitze Asiens erstreckt.
