Bruno Huber, a Zürich native, gained recognition in 1977 by winning the Höhnharter Wanderpreis for his outstanding short story in German. His literary success led to the publication of "Das Gelübte," a collection of his short stories by Ullstein. Huber's work reflects his Swiss background and showcases his talent in storytelling.

The story follows two young lovers separated by social class, who reunite years later as they find themselves on opposing sides of a contentious nuclear plant proposal in central Mexico. He becomes the leader of an activist group advocating for environmental protection, while she works as a reporter for a conservative newspaper.
