Britains New Toy Soldiers, 1973 to the Present: Traditional Gls-Painted Metal Models
    • In 1973 Britains introduced their New Toy Soldier line of gloss-painted metal figures. It has been highly successful and continues to the present day. This new book focuses on the traditional 54mm figures, illustrating nearly the complete range in nearly 1,100 photographs. Over 3,200 figures are shown with a strong emphasis on military items: British Ceremonial troops, American Civil War, Indian Army and Delhi Durbar, World War I, Knights, Zulu War, Rorkes Drift, Limited Editions, W Britains Collectors Club Membership products, Britains Centenary and Millennium issues. The book also features non-military sections on Home Farm and Circus. Special issues by the Britains Company and figures exclusive to Harrods' and Hamleys' department stores all are included. Each toy is identified in the text and captions, with a comprehensive index of all gloss-painted figures produced during the period covered. The book contains a valuation guide to each set or individual item. This reference book is the definitive work on the new Britains line.

    • It is Halloween night and two very different witches are preparing for the evening's festivities. While Karen, a young trick 'r treater, is putting on her witch's costume, a witch named Hexabell is whipping up a potion to turn a stray kitten into a Halloween cat, a cat with witchy abilities. Balancing on Hexabell's broom is not one of the things he can do, so he gets lost. When Karen finds the cat takes him home and names him Spook. Now Spook has a difficult decision to make: stay with the witch who game him his powers, or let go of his powers and stay with Karen and her family, who love him very much.

      Spook the Halloween Cat
    • Can a witch really fly on a broomstick with a black cat? Of course. There are lots of books with pictures of witches and black cats flying on broomsticks. Spook is a black kitten that hates to fly on a broomstick. When he falls off, and is found by a young girl, it becomes a wild time for the girl and her family. The kitten has magic powers that amuse and confuse everyone. Spook the magic kitten is a very special and lovable pet for a witch or a family. Well, Spook is not an ordinary kitten. The girl and her family are in for a lot of trouble. Read this story to your cat. Cats like stories when a cat is the star. My cat Buster thinks it is very exciting and funny.

    • Those born in America in the late 1920s to early 1940s were dubbed the Silent Generation. A generation small in number, too young to fight in World War II, too old to fight in Vietnam, were allegedly born at a time that set them up for success. A generation that wanted simple lives: to get married and have good jobs and save for their retirement. Dean Norman is one of the Lucky Few. His memoir, The Lucky Generation, is a collection of anecdotes from his childhood growing up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, his career as a greeting card writer for Hallmark Cards and American Greetings and his adventures exploring the outdoors that inspired his comic strip Wally's Woods. Including stories recounted by colleagues and friends, this is a light-hearted, humorous account of a man who, if granted one wish, would wish that every generation could be as lucky as his.

Alex has eighteen days until he finds out if he got into Arts Law, a week in Caloundra to sleep, swim and watch the cricket, and a mother with a keen interest in his sex life. Fortuna keeps bees, has a nose-ring, and a father who likes to do pottery in the nude. When this unlikely pair meet, the results are both hilarious and heart-warming. And for both of them it means that things will never be the same after January. Adapted by Philip Dean from Nick Earls' award-winning novel, After January is a play for people of all ages about what happens when someone stops waiting for life to happen and begins instead to live it. (1 act: 2 women, 2 men)
