      My horses, my teachers
    • For the first time, Colonel Podhajsky has set forth explicitly and in practical, instructive fashion the step-by-step methods of training both horse and rider that are used at the School and that are the applicable foundations of all good horsemanship, for their purpose is to develop the natural abilities of the horse and to make riding a graceful, pleasurable experience.

Complete Training of Horse and Rider in the Principles of Classical Horsemanship
    • First published in 1973 and reprinted many times, The Riding Teacher is an invaluable aid for all instructors and also for riders teaching themselves. Colonel Podhajsky examines in depth the psychology of riding and the relationship between teacher, pupil and horse. He includes chapters on the basic theory of riding; dressage; systematic riding instruction; overcoming difficulties and setbacks and participating in competitions. Now considered a classic of equestrian literature, The Riding Teacher should be read by everyone seriously interested in classical riding principles. In her foreword Sylvia Loch says "If every riding instructor, examiner and competitor were to purchase and inwardly digest this the last of Podhajsky's books, we would all appreciate many happier horses and a higher standard of equitation throughout the land." Colonel Podhajsky was considered to be a great riding teacher and a fine competitor whose skill and elegance made him one of the most accomplished horsemen of the post-war era. He was an Olympic Games medallist and a Director of the Spanish Riding School in Vienna.

    • This is a pioneering book on Taiwan's cultural diplomacy. It argues that cultural diplomacy is a subset of public diplomacy aiming to utilize useful cultural resources to demonstrate Taiwan's soft power so to increase the public's understanding and create positive impression toward Taiwan in the like-minded countries. It then identifies three effective areas to implement cultural diplomacy: films, music, and the academic field of Taiwan studies. Dr. Astrid Lipinsky is Managing Director of the Vienna Center for Taiwan Studies at University of Vienna, Austria.

The Many Faces of Taiwan's Cultural Diplomacy
    • This book wrestles with the question of how the church can thrive in such a diverse urban environment as Berlin and contribute to the flourishing of a pluralistic society. The study includes embedded experience on the streets and crosses the disciplinary divides of Sociology & Theology. The main claim of the book is that the church is only able to thrive when it is willing to descend into the messy urban reality and encounter the stranger. However, the church can only do so by glimpsing God's glory in worship. Living pluralism emerges from the grassroots. The church can only become a gift to society paradoxically: By not setting itself at the center, but rather by gathering around the triune God and abandoning its desire for power and relevance, the church will unintentionally provide a fertile soil within which resilient pluralism will grow.

    • In recent decades, the Netherlands and Flanders have faced challenges in how to deal with a multicultural society. As far as worldviews are concerned, the question arises whether the state should guarantee a maximum level of choice concerning religion and humanism to individuals or leave a free space to the religious and humanist communities. This study explores in how far committed Catholic, Protestant, Muslim and humanist youth agree with different models of the relationship between worldviews and the state against the backdrop of their religious and humanist beliefs, as well as social determinants. It does so by drawing on quantitative and qualitative empirical research. The analyses show that, overall, most religious and humanist youth prefer the state to guarantee a maximum level of choice to individuals, but also want the state to respect a substantial free space for communities. Above all, they want the state to treat worldviews equally before the law. Their religious and humanist beliefs are the most significant determinants.
