In the depths of a harsh Yorkshire winter, I embarked on a journey that inspired this book. Eager to meet a few schoolmasters, I was warned they might be hesitant to welcome the author of the _Pickwick Papers_. To navigate this, I collaborated with a friend who had connections in Yorkshire and devised a clever ruse. He provided me with letters of introduction, supposedly written by my traveling companion, concerning a fictional little boy left with his widowed mother. The mother, desperate for help, considered sending him to a Yorkshire school, and I was to be her friend seeking guidance on local schools. I traveled to several towns known for their educational establishments, but it wasn't until I reached a particular town—nameless here—that I found the recipient of my letter absent. However, he ventured out through the snow to the inn where I was staying that evening. After dinner, he needed little encouragement to join me by the fire and share some wine. I fear he may no longer be alive.

The Tiger has proved to be one of the most popular modelling subjects of all time, with a vast and ever-increasing range of kits, aftermarket products and references available. Probably the most famous tank of World War II, the Tiger was designed in response to the German Army's fighting experience in Western Europe, North Africa and Russia. Armed with the most powerful German gun, the famous 88mm, the Panzer VI Tiger was intended to dominate the battlefield from the East to the West.In this book, some of the world's most talented modellers cover six separate Tiger projects, their work illustrated by a collection of step-by-step color photographs detailing everything from insignia to battle damage in a variety of combat theaters to illustrate the Tiger's full wartime experience. With varying degrees of difficulty, this will appeal to both experienced modelling enthusiasts and newcomers attempting their first project.

For 40 years, David Parker served as a teacher in San Francisco’s inner-city schools. Unlike most of his colleagues, however, he did not place his faith and his future in the teachers’ union or the government. Instead, he simultaneously became a real estate investor and entrepreneur, as well as a jazz musician. As Parker jokingly says, “I have 150 years of experience.” His financial journey has been very successful. A perennial student as well as a teacher, to write “Income and Wealth,” Parker went back to school to study math, finance and economics. It became clear that individual responsibility and initiative are essential keys to financial success, and that government regulation of important sectors of life including healthcare and education will always be a recipe for disaster. Parker’s message is a positive one. He not only assures readers that financial independence is possible, regardless of annual income, but he provides a step-by-step plan for achieving this desirable goal. “Income and Wealth” will provide readers with thought-provoking insights into the way the economy really works. It is scholarly writing in political economy, yet provides useful insights into financial decision-making on a daily basis.
