Elle est l'auteur de plus de 20 livres destinés aux enseignants, certains coécrits avec son mari Charles. Elle a enseigné et formé des enseignants en Grande-Bretagne, en France, en Chine, au Tibet et à Madagascar, et a animé des ateliers et des cours pour enseignants dans le monde entier. Elle est actuellement maître de conférences à la School of English and Applied Linguistics de l'Unitec à Auckland, en Nouvelle-Zélande.
