Die Menschenliebe des christlichen Gottes richtet sich auf das Heil des Einzelnen. Daraus haben abendländische Denker gefolgert, erst mit dem Christentum sei Individualität in die Welt gekommen. Auf diesem christlichen Fundament habe sich dann der säkulare Individualismus der westlichen Moderne entwickelt. Die Annahme der individualitätsbefördernden Kraft des Christentums hat die These befördert, die christliche Mission habe durch ihre Botschaft auch in anderen kulturellen Kontexten individualisierend gewirkt und dadurch auch eine Verbesserung der Rolle der Frauen mit sich gebracht. Die Kollegforschergruppe Religiöse Individualisierung in historischer Perspektive des Max-Weber-Kollegs Erfurt hat diese allzu selbstverständliche Bindung von Individualität an das Christentum und die abendländische Moderne infrage gestellt und die Rolle der Mission der empirischen Überprüfung unterzogen. Dies geschah im April 2012 im Rahmen eines internationalen und interdisziplinären Kongresses, dessen Ergebnisse hier vorliegen. Vier Sektionen behandeln Grundsatzfragen, darunter vergleichend „Frauen in der Mission“. Fünf Sektionen befassen sich mit Fallstudien aus Amerika, Ost- und Südasien, Afrika und dem Südpazifik. Im Ergebnis überlebt die Ausgangshypothese den empirischen Härtetest nur angeschlagen und stark differenziert.

This volume brings together key findings of the long-term research project ‘Religious Individualisation in Historical Perspective’ (Max Weber Centre for Advanced Cultural and Social Studies, Erfurt University). Combining a wide range of disciplinary approaches, methods and theories, the volume assembles over 50 contributions that explore and compare processes of religious individualisation in different religious environments and historical periods, in particular in Asia, the Mediterranean, and Europe from antiquity to the recent past. Contrary to standard theories of modernisation, which tend to regard religious individualisation as a specifically modern or early modern as well as an essentially Western or Christian phenomenon, the chapters reveal processes of religious individualisation in a large variety of non-Western and pre-modern scenarios. Furthermore, the volume challenges prevalent views that regard religions primarily as collective phenomena and provides nuanced perspectives on the appropriation of religious agency, the pluralisation of religious options, dynamics of de-traditionalisation and privatisation, the development of elaborated notions of the self, the facilitation of religious deviance, and on the notion of dividuality.

Variational methods are applied to prove the existence of weak solutions for boundary value problems from the deformation theory of plasticity as well as for the slow, steady state flow of generalized Newtonian fluids including the Bingham and Prandtl-Eyring model. For perfect plasticity the role of the stress tensor is emphasized by studying the dual variational problem in appropriate function spaces. The main results describe the analytic properties of weak solutions, e. g. differentiability of velocity fields and continuity of stresses. The monograph addresses researchers and graduate students interested in applications of variational and PDE methods in the mechanics of solids and fluids.

V roce 2016 vyšla kniha o potravinových alergiích a intolerancích, která obsahuje teoretické poznatky. Tato navazující sbírka pacientských osudů přináší kazuistiky různých příběhů – od jednoduchých po složité, časté i méně obvyklé. Cílem je zvýšit povědomí o tom, že 5 % populace trpí potravinovou alergií a ještě více potravinovou intolerancí, a že tito pacienti často potřebují rychlou a kvalifikovanou pomoc. Kazuistiky ilustrují aplikaci teoretických znalostí na pacienty, kteří čelí různým obtížím, a to jak u kojenců, dětí, tak dospělých. Zahrnují alergie na běžné i méně konzumované potraviny a příznaky, které mohou být akutní, subakutní nebo chronické. Příběhy poodhalují možnosti diagnostiky, včetně anamnestických a laboratorních metod, a zkoumají výhody a limity kožních a jiných expozičních testů, stejně jako přínosy a úskalí molekulární biologie a komponentové diagnostiky. Zatímco první kniha rozšiřuje vzdělání, tato sbírka se zaměřuje na konkrétní případy, které mohou pomoci lékařům lépe porozumět potřebám svých pacientů.

Knihá má 267 stran a je vázaná. Komentář autora k vydání: "Text je obohacen o nové poznatky i o zbrusu nové kapitolky, jako je například problematika možné nesnášenlivosti alkoholických nápojů. Inspirací pro rozšíření textu byly jednak novinky ve vědeckých poznatcích, jednak novinky na trhu. Nicméně nejdůležitějším motivem byly čtenářské připomínky a hromadící se dotazy. Tak se ukázalo, že některá témata (zajímavé recepty, probiotika, prebiotika, expoziční testy, přídatné látky, nová legislativa aj.) si zaslouží více prostoru, než jim bylo věnováno v knize předchozí."

Potravinová alergie je podmíněna nežádoucí, výhradně specifickou imunologickou odpovědí na potravinové antigeny. Na rozdíl od jiných alergií jí neustále přibývá, za což nese odpovědnost jak samotný genom, tak především prostředí včetně výživy i západního způsobu života, souhrnně epigenetické mechanismy.
