Jeden z nejoriginálnějších soudobých ruských spisovatelů ve svém třetím románě demytizuje téma ruské historie a zpracovává ho metodou prozaického postmodernismu. Vyprávění je koncipováno jako vzpomínky Palisandra Dalberga, příbuzného Lavrentije Beriji, jednoho ze sloupů stalinské hrůzovlády.
