Paul Lacroix

    Paul Lacroix, mieux connu sous ses pseudonymes P.L. Jacob ou Le Bibliophile Jacob, fut un auteur et journaliste français prolifique, animé d'un profond intérêt pour les bibliothèques et les livres. Son œuvre considérable comprend plus de vingt romans historiques, ainsi que d'importantes études historiques sur des personnages tels que Napoléon III et le Tsar Nicolas Ier de Russie. Il fut co-auteur d'une œuvre monumentale en cinq volumes examinant les mœurs, coutumes et costumes du Moyen Âge et de la Renaissance, une référence standard pour cette période. Lacroix se pencha également sur des études bibliographiques et l'histoire de la culture, une œuvre substantielle sur l'histoire de la prostitution lui étant souvent attribuée. Sa passion pour les arts s'exprima en outre par son travail d'édition de la revue Revue universelle des arts.
