Listening Tasks. For Intermediate Students of American English
Listening Tasks. For Intermediate Students of American English. Students Book
    • Listening Tasks is for low-intermediate and intermediate level students who need to understand authentic American English spoken at normal speed in everyday situations. Practical topics, such as calling about an apartment, catching a plane, and finding out what's going on in town, make the material interesting and motivating for students. The cassette consists of public address announcements, telephone exchanges, dialogues, and other short recordings of people speaking naturally with the normal pauses, hesitations, and interruptions that occur in authentic spoken language. Students listen to the tape, then perform simple tasks, such as labelling a diagram or map and filling in a form or chart. The emphasis is on sifting out the important information and getting the gist of what is heard rather than on trying to understand every word. Reading and writing exercises related to the theme of the listening task are included in each unit.
