Rubén Darío (1867 – 1916) bol španielskoamerický básnik, ktorý prežil väčšinu života mimo rodnej Nikaraguy, najmä v Čile a v Argentíne, neskôr v Paríži a v Madride. Konfrontoval sa s rozličnými kultúrami, čo sa odrazilo aj v jeho poézii. Ako básnik sa pohyboval medzi sladkosťou a horkosťou, triumfom a pádom, vitalitou a depresiou, nádejou a beznádejou, očarením krásou a skľúčenosťou, ale je predovšetkým veľkým milovníkom života. Prekladateľom a komentátorom prvého slovenského výberu z jeho poézie je Ján Zambor a tvorcom výtvarného sprievodu Peter Pollág.
