An action-packed novel for children set in Glasgow and Egypt, both Ancient and Modern, aimed at ages 9-14 but enjoyed by adults too. The first in a five-book series features a spirited teenage heroine, a magical talking cat, the ghost of Tutankhamun, Ancient Egyptian Gods, an eccentric Egyptologist Aunt, and an engaging cast of characters, including a villain. This rollicking sci-fi adventure not only entertains but also imparts historical knowledge. Thirteen-year-old Izzy is sent to stay with her quirky Aunt Harriet in Scotland, dreading a dull time away from her friends. However, her outlook changes when she receives a rescue-cat, Basti, who is blind, bossy, and anything but ordinary. Izzy soon learns that adopting a magical, time-traveling cat leads to extraordinary events. To her astonishment, Basti speaks and claims to be the Guardian of the long-dead Pharaoh, Tutankhamun, who is in peril. Izzy agrees to help rescue the Pharaoh, plunging her into time-travel and the mysteries of Ancient Egypt. Together, they tackle hieroglyphic puzzles, encounter Ancient Gods and Goddesses, and face numerous challenges, always just ahead of their adversary. Will they succeed in saving the Pharaoh in time?
