Glöckner eilt bis heute der noble Ruf eines ‚Artist’s Artist‘ voraus. Zugleich stand er von der Kunstgeschichte nahezu unbeachtet im Schatten der etablierten Meister der klassischen Moderne. Im reich bebilderten und exquisit produzierten Katalog Hermann Glöckner – Ein Meister der Moderne begegnen sich Beispiele seines frühen Tafelwerks aus der Zeit von 1930–1935 und eine Gruppe seiner Modelli der 1960er- und 1970er-Jahre, die als Entwürfe zu großformatigen skulpturalen Faltungen verstanden werden können. Erstmals werden diese zentralen Werkgruppen einer konzentrierten kunsthistorischen Betrachtung unterzogen. Die zahlreichen Vintage-Photographien von Werner Lieberknecht bezeugen darüber hinaus, dass Glöckners nicht erhaltenes Künstleratelier einen einzigartigen Denkraum darstellte.
