Lewis Morgan Livres

Lewis Henry Morgan fut un anthropologue et théoricien social américain pionnier, reconnu comme l'un des plus grands scientifiques sociaux du dix-neuvième siècle aux États-Unis. Il est surtout connu pour ses travaux sur la parenté et la structure sociale, ses théories de l'évolution sociale et son ethnographie des Iroquois. En raison de son étude de la parenté, Morgan fut l'un des premiers défenseurs de la théorie selon laquelle les peuples autochtones des Amériques avaient migré d'Asie dans l'Antiquité. Ses théories sociales ont influencé les théoriciens de gauche ultérieurs et il est le seul théoricien social américain cité par Charles Darwin, Karl Marx et Sigmund Freud.
