Properties of complex systems that are of particular importance are their efficiency, robustness, resilience, and proneness to collapse.The quantitative tools and concepts needed to understand the co-evolutionary nature of networked systems and their properties are challenging. The book gives a self-contained introduction to these concepts, so that the reader will be equipped with a toolset that allows them to engage in the science of complex systems. Im März 1943 ist Tina noch nicht ganz drei Jahre alt, als ihre Mutter unerwartet stirbt. Ihr Vater heiratet nur wenige Wochen später erneut und überträgt Tinas Erziehung der neuen Ehefrau. Nur ihrem starken Überlebenswillen und der Aufmerksamkeit von Nachbarn ist es zu verdanken, dass sie diese schreckliche Zeit überlebt. Stationen dieses erschütternden Dramas sind München, ein einsamer Bauernhof im Allgäu und schließlich ein Dorf im heutigen Rhön-Grabfeld-Kreis. 2004 wird Tina erneut mit ihrer schrecklichen Vergangenheit konfrontiert, als sie in Florian, dem Freund ihrer Stieftochter Melanie, einen Enkel der verhassten Stiefmutter vermutet.
