HOPE follows the healing journey from surviving to thriving through the passage of three doors. First you will cross the threshold of Surviving: a physically, emotionally, and spiritually raw and exposed phase of life. Next you will enter into the transformational phase of Rebuilding: creating life again, beginning to glimpse new possibilities. And finally, there arrives Thriving: living empowered, and opening to love and being loved after trauma. These are doors I had to pass through in my own recovery from a violent attack. This book is a montage of quotations, poems, stories, and anecdotes. It is designed either to be read start to finish, or to pick a page at random from the section you feel you are moving through on days when you need inspiration and uplifting. My hope is that we will never again experience the deep traumas that forever changed us, and we learn to ride the waves through the sea of life taking shelter in the restoration of safety and empowerment within.
