Pope Alexander

    Alexander Pope est généralement considéré comme le plus grand poète anglais du XVIIIe siècle, célèbre pour ses vers satiriques et sa traduction d'Homère. Il est le troisième écrivain le plus cité dans la langue anglaise, après Shakespeare et Tennyson. Pope était un maître du distique héroïque.

      1876. No Edition Remarks. 448 pages. No dust jacket. Red cloth with decorations. Black and white illustrations throughout. Severe cracking to hinges causing boards and pages to be loose. Frontispiece detached but still present. Pages and illustrations have light tanning and foxing throughout. Pencil inscription to rear of frontispiece. Top of rear free endpaper missing. Water staining to some pages, text remains unaffected. Boards have moderate shelf-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Light tanning to spine and edges with crushing to spine ends. Staining to rear board. Wear marks overall.
