      W. Cayd McKenzie lands on what at first appears to be a dessert world. Within hours curiosity and circumstances separate him from his ship and take him on a forced walk of several days towards what he hopes is a mountain oasis. The mountain with it’s inaccessible peaks becomes the bulwark of an island that is surrounded by water within hours of his climbing to safety. The discovery of a human-like skeleton, and the very real threat of two creatures reminiscent of earth’s Jurassic period are encouragement for him to seek refuge on the other side of the range. Becoming familiar with the island introduces him to aliens very much like himself who have an association with a race of intelligent dinosaurs called The Lanark. In the process he is hunted, used as target practice, and becomes the den mother of a newly hatched Lanark pup. When he finally makes contact with the alien humanoids, The Nury, who are attacked by an aggressive enemy who has been seeking to destroy all their habitations. The recovery of his ship becomes paramount; the escape into space the only hope of survival.

Sometimes we get carried away to places we never really intended to go, and get wound up in choices we never really made. Sometimes the consequences overtake us and our future turns out to be in someone else's hands.
