Getting kidnapped by an infamous outlaw gang wasn't on Sofia's list of things to do this summer. But hey, neither was running from Spartans bent on her destruction, and that worked out okay. (Kinda?) Against all odds, Sofia, Adam, and Hector have stolen the Kronos key from the clutches of their Spartan captors and the burning Kronos temple. But now the mythical Kronos key, which turns any door into a portal to another time, has taken the trio sometime new: 1869, on the eve of the joining of the transcontinental railroad. But there's a problem (and that's pretty common for Sofia). The train they're on, the Jupiter, is carrying precious cargo--a golden spike. It was supposed to be used to nail the last railroad tie of the transcontinental railroad in place, but the infamous Barr gang and their crazed leader have different ideas. And, when they rob the train to steal the spike, they decide to take Sofia with them. Desperate to find her, Adam and Hector join up with Freeman, a former slave turned cowboy and law man who will stop at nothing to save Sofia and put the Barr gang's reign of terror to an end. Will Sofia escape? Will Freeman, Hector, and Adam find her and the golden spike before the kidnappers disappear forever?
