This work brings to life the last days of carrying cargo under sail, written in Bob Roberts' lively and evocative style.

      Last of the Sailormen
    • When the dying Alexander the Great was asked to whom he bequeathed his vast empire, he supposedly replied 'to the strongest.' There ensued a long series of struggles between his generals and governors for control of these vast territories. Most of these Diadochi, or successors, were consummate professionals who had learned their trade under Alexander and, in some cases, his father Philip. This second volume studies how they applied that experience and further developed the art of war in a further four decades of warfare. This is a period rich in fascinating tactical developments. The all-conquering Macedonian war machine developed by Philip and Alexander was adapted in various ways (such as the addition of war elephants) by the different successors according to their resources. Siege and naval warfare is also included.

The Wars of Alexander's Successors, 323-281 BC: Armies, tactics and battles
    • Detailed, insightful analysis of a neglected period. Gripping narrative full of dramatic events, battles and great figures such as Alcibiades, Lysander, Pelopidas and Epaminondas. Explains the high point and demise of Spartan power

      The Spartan Supremacy 412-371 BC
    • Mike Roberts reveals how Alexander the Great's Macedonian homeland benefitted so little from the remarkable empire he built and explains its remarkably rapid decline following the conqueror's death. Alexander's overreaching ambition is blamed.

      Alexander the Great's Legacy
    • Unprecedented focus on Hannibal's neglected campaigns in southern Italy from 213 to 203 BC BC

      Hannibal's Road
    • Who? Who? was inspired as my wife and I sat at our breakfast table one morning. As we were watching the birds come to our bird feeder, I was reminded of a line in a song: "His eye is on the sparrow." In just a few minutes, the rest of the ideas came to me. Some of them are based on other things God has spoken to me about while enjoying nature. You will recognize several Bible verses and biblical teachings within the story. It is my hope that parents and teachers will enjoy sharing with the young how to see God in every area of life and to recognize that He is with us every day. As they become aware of this, the Holy Spirit will teach them about the Father and Jesus through nature and everyday occurrences. I am sure we all have pleasant memories of stories that have stayed with us from childhood. I hope this small book and its story will be one of those.
