Pembrokeshire is justly famous for its coastline and its historic towns and city of St David's. Its villages, rich in history and legend, are often passed through without further thought. Two hundred and thirty four villages and hamlets are covered, each with a brief description. As well as information on churches, chapels and sites of interest there are stories of saints, pirates, sea monsters, knights and flying saucers reflecting the county's varied heritage.
The book contains some remarkable stories such as the illegitimate son of a slave owner and his slave who became Britain's first black High Sheriff and the mineowner who sold his home to compensate the families of those killed in a colliery accident.
