Der Fokus liegt auf der Rolle der Fahne als Ausdruck von Einheit und Identität in einer Zeit des Umbruchs und der Teilung, und es wird untersucht, wie sie zur Förderung des politischen Engagements beitrug. Die Arbeit bietet somit einen tiefen Einblick in die Symbolik und die politischen Strömungen der damaligen Zeit.

Die Studienarbeit untersucht die Konstituierung der GUE/NGL-Fraktion im Europäischen Parlament und die Herausforderungen der programmatisch-ideologischen Divergenz innerhalb der europäischen Linken. Die Hypothese besagt, dass diese Divergenz die fraktionelle Geschlossenheit schwächt und die Entwicklung einer vereinigten Europäischen Linkspartei behindert.
