Focusing on neuropsychological functions, this study investigates first episode psychosis patients from the Parachute Project. Utilizing the WAIS-R NI test battery, it correlates cognitive abilities with clinical, psychological, and social outcomes over five years of need-adapted treatment. Key findings indicate that early cognitive performance, particularly Fullscale IQ, can predict the severity of negative symptoms and long-term functional outcomes. While no distinct neuropsychological profile emerged, cognitive impairments seem to be a consistent feature in patients with poor prognoses, highlighting the importance of cognitive assessment in treatment criteria.
