Informelle Gespräche haben einen wichtigen Stellenwert in der Unternehmenskommunikation. In der vorliegenden empirischen Arbeit werden Kantinengespräche zwischen Deutschen und Chinesen in einem Joint Venture in Shanghai anhand von authentischen Videomaterialien untersucht. Die Studie stellt dabei einerseits die erste gesprächsanalytische Beschreibung von Kantinengesprächen dar. Andererseits arbeitet sie vielfältige Besonderheiten der deutsch-chinesischen Kommunikation im Unternehmenskontext heraus. Praktisch einsetzen lassen sich die vorgestellten Ergebnisse im internationalen Personalmanagement, für Trainings zur beruflichen und interkulturellen Kommunikation sowie für den Unterricht des Deutschen als Fremdsprache.
