Geld muss man haben, nicht erklären; das versteht sich für lebenskluge Zeitgenossen. Wenn es um Geld geht, dreht sich alles darum, wie man am besten viel davon bekommt. Diese Sichtweise führt jedoch in ein Zwangssystem der gesellschaftlichen Arbeitsteilung, das oft auf Kosten der Einzelnen geht. Wer sich dem Zwang, Geld zu verdienen, kritik- und begriffslos fügt, macht den Fehler, die ungleiche Verteilung von Reichtum und die damit verbundenen Probleme nicht zu hinterfragen. Ärger über Stress, geringe Verdienste und hohe Preise bringt nichts, wenn man sich nicht mit den Ursachen auseinandersetzt. Wer die Mechanismen des Geldes nicht verstehen will, sollte über dessen Ungleichheit nicht klagen. Die Wissenschaft bietet oft keine ausreichenden Erklärungen, da sie das Funktionieren der Geldwirtschaft als selbstverständlich ansieht und die Rolle des Geldes als universellen Vermittler anerkennt, ohne tiefergehende Fragen zu stellen. Marx’ Kritik der politischen Ökonomie, trotz ihres Alters, bleibt relevant. Er erkannte, dass die kapitalistische Wirtschaft funktioniert, hielt es jedoch für notwendig, zu hinterfragen, was genau funktioniert. Geld ist nicht nur ein Tauschmittel, sondern spiegelt ein gesellschaftliches Gewaltverhältnis wider, dem die Arbeit untergeordnet ist.
