Ore-Bearing Granites of Russia and Adjacent Countries
International Geological Correlation Programme IGCP-373
This volume presents a selection of papers from the INTAS Project 93-1783, focusing on ore-bearing granites of Eurasia and the mechanisms of ore deposition. It is the second monograph from this project, following the 1996 publication on granite-related ore deposits in Central Kazakhstan and adjacent areas. The monograph includes 19 contributions, with 14 providing regional overviews of significant granite and ore provinces, including northern and central Kazakhstan, the Urals, Mongolia, the Caucasus, Siberia, Yakutia, and the Pamirs. Additionally, five papers address general aspects of granite magmatism, covering topics such as geophysics, metasomatic zoning, volatile composition, and petrogenetic tracing. An introductory paper compiles previously unavailable data on ore resources, mining production, and applications for over one hundred major granite-related rare-metal ore deposits in the former Soviet Union. While some significant rare-metal granite areas are not covered due to limited cooperation with FSU research groups and unaccepted submissions, this volume offers a comprehensive overview of the geology and metallogeny of major granite-related rare-metal deposits in Russia and neighboring countries. It serves as a valuable resource for the mineral exploration and mining community, as well as geoscientists interested in granite-related metallogeny.
