    Albert Derolez est Professeur Émérite aux Universités Libres de Bruxelles et a été auparavant Conservateur des Manuscrits et des Livres Rares à la Bibliothèque de l'Université d'État de Gand. Son travail académique se concentre sur la paléographie des livres manuscrits gothiques du XIIe siècle au début du XVIe siècle. En tant qu'expert de premier plan dans les études de manuscrits et ancien président du Comité International de Paléographie Latine, Derolez a apporté des contributions significatives au domaine.
