In the present regional monograph 848 specimens of Cerithiopsidae and Newtoniellidae of the Shouji Tsuzuki collection are analyzed. This work lead to the identification of 92 different species of which 21 are new to science. For 59 species the distribution range is expanded to Okinawa. 139 specimens are not determined to species level because they were only represented once and often were in bad condition. Fifteen genera of Cerithiopsidae are represented: Belonimorphis (with 1 species), Clathropsis (19), Granulopsis (1), Horologica (15), Joculator (17), Mendax (1), Marshallopsis (1), Ondulopsis (2), Oparopsis (2), Prolixodens (2), Retilaskeya (1), Seila (4), Specula (12), Synthopsis (13), Tubercliopsis (1), and two genera of Newtoniellidae: Ataxocerithium (1), Cerithiella (1). New taxa: Clathropsis albida n. sp., Clathropsis araii n. sp., Clathropsis fulvocincta n. sp., Clathropsis iheyaensis n. sp., Clathropsis matsukii n. sp., Clathropsis okutanii n. sp., Clathropsis zamamiensis n. sp., Horologica teruyai n. sp., Joculator aterrufus n. sp., Joculator fulvaster n. sp., Joculator hasegawai n. sp., Joculator kuboi n. sp., Joculator mitsuoi n. sp., Oparopsis hikimarum n. sp., Oparopsis tsuzukii n. sp., Specula churamaris n. sp., Specula naoae n. sp., Specula seragakiensis n. sp., Synthopsis shoujii n. sp., Cerithiella kaitotsuzukii n. sp.

In the present regional monograph 3,431 specimens of Cerithiopsidae are analyzed. The material was collected during two expeditions by the MNHN in Papua New Guinea: PAPUA NIUGINI 2012 and KAVIENG LAGOON 2014. A total of 184 different species was identified, 67 of which are new to science. For 117 species the distribution ranges are expanded. Fourteen genera of Cerithiopsidae are represented: Cerithiopsidella (2 species), Clathropsis (15), Granulopsis (2), Horologica (33), Joculator (76), Marshallopsis (11), Ondulopsis (2), Prolixodens (2), Retilaskeya (3), Seila (6), Specula (4), Sundaya (1), Synthopsis (23) and Tubercliopsis (4).
The present regional monograph is based on the study of 4,859 specimens of Cerithiopsidae and Newtoniellidae collected during several expeditions in New Caledonia and the Loyalty Islands. Altogether, 171 species are present of which 76 are new to science; the range of 92 already known species is expanded; 3 species are figured but not named. The generic allocation of a number of species remains uncertain, a situation that can be resolved only with the analysis of the soft parts. All species are described and illustrated with digital color photos and with environmental scanning electron microscope (ESEM); particular emphasis was given to protoconchs. Fifteen genera of Cerithiopsidae are represented: Belonimorphis (1 species), Cerithiopsidella (1), Clathropsis (22), Horologica (22), Joculator (41), Marshallopsis (12), Medax (5), Onchodia (1), Prolixodens (10), Retilaskeya (1), Seila (3), Specula (16), Sundaya (7), Synthopsis (18), Tubercliopsis (3); and 2 genera of Newtoniellidae: Ataxocerithium (2), Cerithiella (6). We also analyzed the species from Lifou and Uvea (Loyalty Is.) instituted by Melvill & Standen (1896).
