Sebastian Heiner Livres

In 2017, the painter Sebastian Heiner (*1964) worked for six months in Shanghai. His new book is a travelogue and documents his mosaic impressions of the megacity. Text in English and German.

"Sebastian Heiner is a consummate artist and a master of abstract oil painting. Since his first trip to Asia in 2004, the artist has spent several months at a time in studios there. He develops new artistic forms from the disordered environment of Asian megacities. Using unusual painting tools and exerting huge physical effort in almost violent sessions, Heiner's canvases reflect the influence of Arte Informel, Tachisme and Action Painting.
