Religious ideas, practices, discourses, institutions, and social expressions are in constant flux. This volume addresses the internal and external dynamics, interactions between individuals, religious communities, and local as well as global society. The contributions concentrate on four areas: 1. Wie äußern sich die pluralisierten Religionsformen der Moderne bei den Menschen, und was bedeutet das für die religiösen Institutionen? In einem qualitativ-empirischen Projekt wurden evangelische und katholische Kirchenmitglieder nach ihren spirituellen Orientierungen befragt. Auf dieser Grundlage entwickeln die Autoren den neuartigen Idealtypus der „spirituellen Wanderer“. Es handelt sich um eine selbstbestimmte Form der Religiosität, die offen ist für alle möglichen Impulse, die letzte Instanz ihrer Auswahl aber konsequent in die eigene Person verlegt. Religion wird als etwas Prozesshaftes verstanden. Die hier sichtbar werdende Haltung wird für die Zukunft der religiösen Landschaft von fundamentaler Bedeutung sein.
