Faith and Interfaith Relations Within the Orbit of Abrahamic Monotheism. Responding to the pressures of current theological-socio-political trends towards an amalgamation of the so-called monotheistic religions Islam, Judaism, Christianity, the contributions to this volume bring a more critical, philosophical-theological perspective to the widespread common understanding of Abrahamic monotheism. The present volume is a study on religious faith under eight specific outlooks on the topic of religion and monotheism. The first step, What to believe, takes into account that each faith, monotheistic or not, must have a basic code to start with.

In the present study the author, director of mission studies and interreligious dialogue, Saint Paul University, Ottawa, Canada, proposes a dialogue between human sciences and missiology. Thanks to a path opened by the French philosopher Michel Foucault, Mooren analyses the pastoralized Western subject; the birth of the human sciences; how their constitution allows for a new vision of institutions like the Propaganda Fidei as well as of the Catholic China mission of the XVII/XVIII centuries. Throughout all this Mooren tackles that one question: why become a Christian at all?

Nach Das weite Land der Religionen (1994) und der Gewürzstraße des Glaubens (2001) legt Thomas Mooren, zuletzt Direktor der Missonswissenschaft an der Sankt Paul Universität, Ottawa, den letzten Band seiner Trilogie zur narrativen Missiologie vor. Die Streifzüge versuchen, sowohl die Nähe als auch die Fremdheit des Anderen, seiner Religion und Kultur auszuloten. Dabei ist es unvermeidlich, dass der Streifzügler auf Gegenwind stößt. Ihn richtig zu nutzen und mit ihm zuleben, anstatt ihn zu fürchten und zu vermeiden, gehört mit zur Kunst jeder narrativen Missiologie.
