This document reports the findings of a 3-year study of company strategies and the training impact of labor organization in Germany. Among the topics discussed in the theoretical overview presented in section 1 are the following: the growing importance of learning in a working environment; Germany's continuing training "system" and funding structures; acquisition of skills in a working environment; structures explaining the process of acquisition of job skills in firms; regional training and continuing training structures; national variables explaining the development of training and continuing training structures; and the context for analysis of learning processes at the workplace. Section 2 consists of three case studies that were selected as being illustrative of the following: use of work-related skilling processes to update the skilling capacity of vocational training; use of group work as a form of work organization as part of continuing training at the workplace; and use of a newly introduced office communications system as a means of skilling at the workplace. Part 3 is a synthesis report that examines the case study findings regarding learning processes at the workplace and basic conditions and factors influencing learning at the workplace. Herausforderungen des globalen Wettbewerbsbedingen Umstellungen in der beruflichen Aus- und Weiterbildung. Ein von der Europäischen Kommission finanziertes Projekt beinhaltet innovative Ansätze, mit denen sich die Publikation „Innovative Ansätze beim Lernen durch Arbeit und bei beruflichen Prüfungen“ beschäftigt. Die Ansätze orientieren sich an der Erkenntnis, dass Lernprozesse in der Arbeit äußerst effizient sind. Es geht um Lernformen, die jenseits von den klassischen Bildungsmodellen, wie Unterricht und Seminare, angesiedelt sind. Darüber hinaus beziehen sich Prüfung und Zertifizierung zunehmend auf die Praxis. Die Fallbeispiele in diesem Buch illustrieren Chancen und Probleme innovativer Ansätze: Der Band behandelt die Themenkomplexe „Nutzung der Lernpotentiale der Arbeit“ und „Innovationen im deutschen Prüfungs- und Zertifizierungswesen“.

Die in der Publikation vorgelegten Ergebnisse sind Teil einer europaweiten Untersuchung zur betrieblichen Weiterbildung, die von 1993 - 1995 durchgeführt wurde. Inhalte der Erhebung waren u. a. Zahl der Teilnehmer nach Art und Umfang der Tätigkeit, Kosten und Dauer der Weiterbildung, inner- und außerbeteriebliche Weiterbildung, Teilnahme nach Geschlecht. Zahlreiche Tabellen und Übersichten veranschaulichen das umfangreiche Datenmaterial. In Deutschland wurde die Erhebung vom Statistischen Bundesamt in Zusammenarbeit mit dem BIBB realisiert.

Das südliche Hochland in Island ist ein Wanderparadies, das vom Vulkan Hekla im Westen bis zum Gletscher Vatnajökull im Osten reicht. Der Wanderführer beschreibt sowohl bekannte als auch weniger bekannte Routen, darunter Trekkingtouren, Tageswanderungen und Kurzausflüge. Zu den Touren zählen die Hellismannaleið, Laugavegur, Fimmvörðuháls, Langisjór und Eldgjá-Trail sowie zahlreiche Tageswanderungen in Landmannalaugar und Þórsmörk. Insgesamt bietet das Buch detaillierte Karten im Maßstab 1:50.000 und über 250 GPS-Punkte als Orientierungshilfen, ergänzt durch aktualisierte Informationen für 2021.

Sie würden mich besser nicht als Kunde haben wollen – ich stände sicher schon bei vielen Firmen auf einer schwarzen Liste. So haben Arbeitskollegen reagiert, wenn ich ihnen erzählt habe, wogegen ich mich mal wieder erfolgreich gewehrt habe. Irgendwann meinte jemand, ich solle doch ein Buch „Erfolgreich wehren“ schreiben, um andere mit praktischem Rat zu ermutigen, sich schlechten Service oder schlechte Produkte nicht gefallen zu lassen. Es geht dabei nicht darum, Unternehmen oder Personen anzugreifen, sondern zu zeigen, dass es auch anders geht und wie aus einem unzufriedenen Kunden wieder ein zufriedener Kunde werden kann. Lange habe ich ein solches Buch für Utopie gehalten, bis der Selbstverlag als elektronisches Buch einfach und risikolos möglich wurde und es mich gereizt hat, ob ich das Zeug zum „elektronischen“ Autor habe – mit allem, was an so einem Buch hängt: Zeit zum Schreiben, Schreiben überhaupt, einen MAC, eine EIN- und ISBN Nummer, Tools zum Erzeugen des Buches als ePub und iBook u. v. m.
