This text critically evaluates the progress of security structures of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) in the particular case of SADC’s intervention in Lesotho 1998. This evaluating process, from a critical security studies perspective, acknowledges the Regional Security Complex Theory (RSCT) and reviews if SADC acted like a Security Community, after Karl Deutsch. It also offers a brief historical approach to regional integration as well as to SADC.
