Pracuje dokonalým veršem, který téměř nezná elizi, tak charakteristickou pro latinské básníky, a to právě prozrazuje cizince, který mistrně zvládl latinské veršování. Obsah jeho veršů vyžaduje namnoze složitých komebntářů, chceme-li proniknout do aktuálních dobových narážek, ale nepotřebuje vysvětlení, chceme-li se nechat unášet básnickou formou a obrazy. Zvláštním půvabem prosluly i jeho úvody k některým básním.
