Gathering together a select group of her closest friends, she is keen to start
the coming year afresh. But successful, stressed-out thirtysomethings in
search of a good time can make for one very fearsome party .
The fifth revision of M. J. Wynne's "Checklist" offers a comprehensive update on benthic marine algae in the tropical and subtropical Western Atlantic, spanning from the eastern United States to southern Brazil. It catalogs 1,707 species across various groups, including Ochrophyta, Rhodophyceae, and Chlorophyceae, with a total of 1,863 names when infraspecific taxa are included. This edition incorporates recent molecular phylogenetic studies, providing insights into classification and includes extensive notes on nomenclature, new records, and taxa.
Or I'll say, 'Fancy an orange squash?' And she'll send me a thumbs up. Michael
Wynne's dark comedy questions the safety of home and the different ways we
cope in an increasingly uncertain world. Cuckoo opened at the Royal Court
Theatre, London, in July 2023.
Preface / Summary/ Introduction/ Systematic Treatment/ Family Delesseriaceae/ Subfamily Delesseroioideae, Tribe Hypoglosseae, Dicroglosseae, Sympodophylleae, Apoglosseae, Botrycarpeae, Caloglosseae, Claudeae, Congregatocarpeae, Delesserieae, Grinellieae, Membranoptereae, Zinovaeeae/ Subfamily Nitophylloideae, Tribe Martensieae, Nitophylleae/ Subfamily Phycodryoideae, Tribe Cryptopleureae, Myriogrammeae, Papenfussieae, Phycodryeae, Valeriemayeae, Schizoserideae, Taxa of uncertain status / Family Sarcomeniaceae/ Acknowledgements/ Bibliography/ Index of Scientific Names.- This is a synthesis of the genera of two red algal families, the Delesseriaceae and the Sarcomeniaceae, including information on all genera ad species currently recognized in these groups. Ninty - five genera are regarded as currently accepted names in the Delesseriaceae. The Delesseriaceae is treated as containing 3 subfamilies. Twelve tribes are assigned to subfamily Delesserioideae, with a total of 48 genera. Four tribes are assigned to the subfamily Nitophylloideae, with a total of 12 genera. Four tribes are assigned to the subfamily Phycodryoideae, with a total of 35 genera. The family Sarcomeniaceae is thought to contain only six genera. Currently recognized species in all of the genera of these two families are listed including bibliographic information, data on type localities, as well s information on homotypic and heterotypic taxonomic synonyms.
This “third revision” of M. J. Wynne's “Checklist” is a meticulously updated compilation of benthic marine algae, or seaweeds, recognized in the tropical and subtropical Western Atlantic Ocean. It spans from the warm temperate eastern United States to southern Brazil, mirroring the domain covered by W. R. Taylor's 1960 algal flora. The checklist identifies 1,393 species of benthic marine algae: 905 red, 175 brown, and 313 green algae. Including 185 infraspecific taxa, the total reaches 1,578 names. Taxonomic synonyms are provided in brackets after current names. The work adheres to the latest proposals on systematic relationships, reflecting significant changes from recent molecular-based phylogenetic studies. Additionally, there are 563 notes regarding nomenclature and distribution for many taxa. An extensive bibliography of relevant literature since the second revision in 2005 is included, along with a table of new references categorized by geographic region (country or coastal states of the southeastern USA). This resource is invaluable for marine algae researchers, offering a synthesis of recent literature and the most modern classification concepts, relevant not just for the Western Atlantic but also in a global context.
