En savoir plus sur le livre

In 1959, six years after the end of the Korean War, Corporal Rudy Spurance arrives at a secret Army base in Greenland, where the US government has established a hospital for war casualties by a fjord. The remote base consists of corrugated iron barracks, storage sheds, fuel tanks, and an icy runway beside the wreck of a propeller plane. The hospital, known as "The Wing," is accessible only with special clearance. Rudy meets the eccentric staff, including the half-crazy commander Lane Woolwrap and his lover Irene, with whom Rudy begins a risky flirtation. Meanwhile, a massive iceberg drifts into the fjord. As the colossal ice slowly melts and breaks apart, Rudy uncovers a terrible secret in the endless Arctic night.
