Managing built development: Components of a systematic approach with examples from Baden-Wuerttemberg This volume presents the current status of discussions on land management , focussing on Baden-Wuerttemberg. It serves both academia and practice by compactly demonstrating how sustainable land management can be systematically and successfully planned and implemented, looking particularly at the municipal and regional scales. In addition to general and legal framework conditions, the components land overview, assessment of the situation, strategies, measures, monitoring and implementation are considered and illustrated with case studies. The discussion reveals how an informed and well-founded process can be implemented without making unacceptable demands on any of the planning tiers. Furthermore, the development of an integrative strategic action approach and its embedding in political processes are shown to be significant success factors.
