En savoir plus sur le livre
World Heritage Today is a comprehensive collection of articles written by young heritage specialists on topics related to the interpretation, conservation, and development of World Heritage Sites. It reflects current trends in heritage research and combines theory with the praxis of heritage preservation and management by offering several case studies from all over the globe: from the Speyer Cathedral and the Old Town of Regensburg in Germany, to the Australian Convict Sites and the Historic Center of São Luis in Brazil. The dynamic and diverse character of this book is expressed in the variety of themes and approaches and in the authors’ countries of origin, which include Brazil, Germany, Iran, and Ukraine. Focusing on the special features and needs of sites inscribed in UNESCO’s World Heritage List, World Heritage Today investigates issues concerning the management and conservation of these sites, discusses benefits and limitations of the World Heritage status and signalizes future changes in the application of the 1972 World Heritage Convention.
