Radoslav Katičić fut un linguiste et historien croate distingué dont le travail couvrait la linguistique générale, les études de langue littéraire et l'histoire linguistique. Il a développé des approches linguistiques modernes et a exploré la continuité de la tradition écrite croate, de ses premières étapes à nos jours. Katičić a également contribué de manière significative à la compréhension du patrimoine culturel et linguistique plus large des Croates, y compris leur identité dans le contexte européen. Ses œuvres synthétiques complètes et son dévouement aux études croates ont solidifié sa position de figure centrale de la linguistique slave.
