Seit 1951 sammelt Klaus Wagenbach fotografische Dokumente über Franz Kafka; in fünf Jahrzehnten entstand ein einzigartiges Archiv mit hunderten von Aufnahmen. Dieses Archiv ist Grundlage des vorliegenden Bandes, der alle wichtigen Bilder zum Leben Kafkas enthält. Die begleitenden Texte von Klaus Wagenbach fassen in Einführungen zu den einzelnen Kapiteln die jeweilige Lebenssituation zusammen.
