Protest in der Rosenstrasse

En savoir plus sur le livre

A book for young people describing Jewish life in Berlin under the Nazi regime. Through the story of a half-Jewish teenage boy, a composite of several real people, gives a historical account of the isolation and humiliation of Jews, expulsion of Jewish and half-Jewish children from school, forced labor, networks for resistance and rescue, and life under countless restrictions and in constant fear. On 27 February 1943, Jews were rounded up at their workplaces for deportation. Those from mixed families were interned separately from the rest in the Rosenstrasse; a mass protest of their "Aryan" relatives, who stood night and day before the prison, secured their release. Accompanied by many authentic documents and photographs.
